Wealderness
Horsted Lane, Sharpthorne, RH19 4HY 07734 852 699
Sleep, rest, relax and simply be at Wilderness a secluded, tree-fringed meadow in the heart of the Sussex Weald. Watch the dawn filter through the leaves above your hammock. Feel the stream flow cool over dangled toes. Hear horses whinny and steam trains clank up the line. Smell the grill smoke from your outdoor kitchen. Nestle into bed to the hoot of owls.
Accommodation
Zeus showman's carriage
Zeus is our pride and joy - a spacious off-grid haven for two facing the steam railway. Sleep deep in the king-size bed, brew your morning coffee in the kitchenette, or enjoy the light and fresh air in the 'kitchen verandah' under the capacious awning. There's an en-suite loo and shower inside too.
Pepperpots mid-century motorhome
Nestled into the bramble but commanding views across the valley to the steam railway, Pepperpots brings a touch of mid-century Palm Springs glamour to Sussex. Sleep in the double bed with ensuite loo and shower. Sip cocktails in the captain's chair, grill dinner under the awning. You're on the grid here. Sleeps two.
Tinks camp
In a shaded spot by the trickling stream, Tinks Camp is suitable for one or two couples. There's a cosy shepherd's hut with small double and a spacious (full head-height) air tent with proper double bed and cotton bedding. Your utility pony trailer affords exclusive use of a hot shower, 'posh' porcelain composting loo and a kitchenette, with awning. There's also a fire pit area and hammocks to snooze on.
Rocktop camp
This tiny, cosy caravan wants to be an Airstream when it grows up. Until then, there's room inside to sleep three hobbits or two medium humans. At the back there's a cute kitchenette and a gazebo kitchen diner with beer barrel bench. Plus there's a firepit and a rustic 'bower' shower (we supply the shower, you heat the water). The composting loo is a few steps away.
Apollo camp
With its Stingray Tentsile tent floating among the tress and a camp kitchen/diner with fire pit and wood stove under an awning by the stream, Apollo camp is our most rugged site, right in the trees. It's suited to the wilder human - you'll be climbing in and out of the tent and moving over some uneven ground. There's tap water nearby, as well as a composting loo.
Zeus showman's carriage
Grass Pitch
Sleeps 2
Your off-grid showman’s carriage has all the important creature comforts: king-size bed with a deep mattress, comfy sofa, loo, hot shower, and a spacious kitchen verandah with gas burners, wood-fired oven and ceramic barbecue.
Pepperpots
Vintage caravan
Sleeps 2
A spot of Palm Springs mid-century charm awaits at Pepperpots, our converted Gulfstream motorhome. Sleep deep in the double bed with ensuite, sip cocktails from the cockpit with views across the valley to the steam railway or head out into the light and dine under the awning at your own kitchen verandah.
Tinks Shepherd's Hut and Tent by the stream
Shepherd’s hut
Sleeps 4
A secluded camp with one shepherd's hut and one pump-up tent, ideal for one or two couples, set in the eaves of stream-side trees on the edge of a rewilded meadow and near the steam railway. The converted pony trailer has a hot shower, porcelain loo and kitchenette for your exclusive use.
Apollo Camp Flying Tent
Tree tent
Sleeps 3
Hovering above the banks of the stream, your Tentsile is a hammock tent right in the middle of our rewilded wet woodland at the edge of a horse-grazed meadow. There's an awning with a camp kitchen, fire pit and barbecue. This is an experience for the more adventurous human willing to tackle uneven ground and to clamber up into bed at night.
